Personal Wi-Fi Hotspot is a widely mobile devices function that enables device to Access Point (AP) for sharing internet connection via Wi-Fi interface’ smartphone to other devices. Wi-Fi hotspot is a useful and basic function built-in new era mobile devices such as smartphones, tablet. However, the current hotspot function have immoderate consume limited battery power while provide the internet connection service to clients. In this paper, we propose “Enhanced Power Saving Access Point – EPSAP” to improve the energy efficiency for Wi-Fi hotspot function. We design the wake-up and sleep schedule protocol to mobile devices can sleep to power saving with asymmetric bandwidth in AP’s interfaces between Cellular (3G) and Wi-Fi. Furthermore, we purpose three-stage sleep (short sleep, long sleep and deep sleep) to adaptive sleep interval base on network traffic patterns.
