Abstract:

Wireless sensor nodes are preferably installed with an appropriate number of neighbors. Without a portable connectivity analyzer, installers will find this procedure difficult in real deployment. The mobile status analyzer previously developed still has some limitation that it cannot see nodes beyond two hops away and lacks support for physical positioning. This project presents a system for analyzing multi-hop connectivity status with the support of offline positioning in order to measure current status condition of distant sensor nodes. The analyzer will broadcast a request to every node in the network, each of which will reply its status back to the analyzer. The status is then visualized on an Android tablet. Experiment shows that every node can be accessed, but response time directly depends on the number of hops used. This will help decide on appropriate installation locations for wireless sensor nodes as their status conditions are measured instantly and their positions are pinpointed on the offline map. As a result, this system will ease the installation and maintenance process
