Abstract:

Nowadays demand for wireless connectivity, as well as the number of wireless devices per person, has increased. In situations where there are a lot of people, e.g., in the large conference room, wireless network infrastructure designed for typical use becomes insufficient to meet such demand. This project presents Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot For Dense Area Network which aims to rapidly provide wireless networking service to a large number of users.  The system consists of a set of wireless access points and a server for central control.  It has been designed and developed with low-cost equipment which is easy to relocate and deploy.  In addition, it provides a web-based monitoring service which allows network operators to keep track of devices’ operational status.

Evaluation results show that when increasing the number of access points, the average IP address request time becomes shorter and the overall bandwidth is increased.
