Currently the need for network connection is crucial. Although both WiFi and 3G wireless are widely adopted, some areas, such as rural area, are not covered by these technologies. The long range WiFi becomes a good choice. However, the installation requires some tools and expertise. In this paper, Long-range Wi-Fi Installation Assisting and Monitoring System has been proposed. The system has been developed based on OpenWRT firmware. By monitoring the signal strength, the system can provides the real-time monitoring and logging which makes the installation becomes more easy and accurate. Also the status of the network can be shown in graph for failure analysis.
